Hi! I'm Maureen — mom of two curious, energetic young girls who keep me on my toes and remind me daily why I started Cheeki.
A few years ago, while visiting my sister in England, I discovered period underwear for the first time. I was immediately intrigued by the concept — a comfortable, reusable alternative to pads and tampons that could actually work as a complete solution, not just backup protection.
But as I started researching and trying different brands, I kept hitting the same frustrations:
- Many options didn't feel truly comfortable
- Some leaked or didn't provide enough absorbency
- Most seemed designed as "backup" rather than full protection
- The quality and safety standards varied wildly
- Very few were designed with young girls and first periods in mind
I knew there had to be something better.
As a mom thinking about my daughters' futures — about the day they'd get their first periods and need products they could trust — I realized I wanted to be part of the solution.
